Introduced to the world in 1986, the BMW M3 was the high-performance variant of the wildly popular 3 Series. Developed by M-Performance, the in-house motorsport division of BMW, the car was Initially designed to meet the homologation requirements for the Group A Touring Car series. However, the M3 quickly established itself as a benchmark for sports coupes/sedans.

Amongst the evolution of the M3, the initial generation, the E30 (produced from 1986 to 1991) has become one of the most iconic German cars ever built. Equipped with a 2.3-liter S14 inline-four cylinder engine, producing around 192 horsepower in its initial European specification, the E30 M3 was distinguished by its flared fenders, aggressive aero kit, and rear wing—necessary to accommodate the wider track. Among the special editions of the E30 M3, the Johnny Cecotto edition stands out as one of the holy grails. Named after the famed Venezuelan racing driver Johnny Cecotto, who achieved significant success in the world of motorsports, from Moto-GP to Formula 1, this edition was limited to only 505 units and featured unique styling cues and performance upgrades. Finished in distinctive colors like Nogaro Silver and Misano Red, the Johnny Cecotto edition included features such as a power increase to 200+ horsepower, 16-inch wheels, and a unique “M-Rain” interior,.

Photographed here, our 1992 BMW E30 M3 Johnny Cecotto Edition (#69/505) is one of the most significant BMW M cars available today. Having gone only 75,902 km (47,163 mi) and finished in its original configuration of Nogaro Silver over a Black leather and "M-Rain" fabric interior, this numbered M3 has been preserved by Squadro Lupo—a South Florida based collection of unique imports that specializes in retaining originality at all costs.
